Brion B. Shin, M.D. Joins Michiana Hematology Oncology

South Bend, Indiana (August 11, 2009) — Michiana Hematology Oncology announced today that it is expanding its staff of oncologists from 14 to 15 as part of an overall plan that includes three new state-of-the-art cancer care centers opening across the region.

Brion B. Shin, M.D. will join the staff of oncologists as a board eligible radiation oncologist working primarily out of the radiation oncology department in Elkhart General Hospital. Dr. Shin will provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and radiation oncology services to better meet the needs of Elkhart County patients.

“By expanding our team of physicians, patients will have better access to treatments,” said Rafat H. Ansari, M.D., F.A.C.P., President of Michiana Hematology Oncology. “Dr. Shin is a skilled, highly motivated oncologist who shows patients the extra care and attention they deserve.”

After graduating magna cum laude from Andrews University, Dr. Shin earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University of Medicine in California. He served an internal medicine internship at the University of Arizona and a radiation oncology residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
