Michiana Hematology Oncology announced today that Michael Method, MD, MPH, FACS, FACOG has been invited to join a committee for a branch of the U.S. Federal Government’s principal agency for cancer research and training.
Effective May 2010, Dr. Method will serve as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), a network of more than 4,000 physicians who participate in advanced cancer research studies at more than 400 community hospitals, clinics and private medical practices around the country. The CCOP is a program of the National Cancer Institute, which is part of the U.S. Government’s National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Method will join a team of physicians to help identify and recommend revisions or modifications to the CCOP network, both in terms of infrastructure and research priorities. The Strategic Planning Committee will facilitate the CCOP’s mission to apply the latest technologies and scientific advancements to medical practice. “The CCOP brings the advantages of cancer research to the community,” said Dr. Method. “As a member of the Strategic Planning Committee, I will help assess the direction of current and future research priorities so more patients can benefit from the newest, most advanced therapies for cancer treatment, symptom management and prevention.”
In addition to his involvement with the CCOP, Dr. Method is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist at Michiana Hematology Oncology. He also serves as vice-chair, member of the board of trustees and sub-investigator for the Northern Indiana Cancer Research Consortium.
