Mohamed Farhat, M.D. Joins Medical Oncology

South Bend, Indiana (September 1, 2009) — The largest cancer treatment center in the region is expanding its team of medical oncologists to provide more treatment options for local cancer patients.

Michiana Hematology Oncology announced today that Mohamed Farhat, M.D. joined their medical oncology team on September 1. Dr. Farhat is board-eligible in medical oncology, and will join seven other medical oncologists in providing inpatient and outpatient consultations and medical oncology services to better meet the needs of Michiana patients. Dr. Farhat will serve patients at the LaPorte, Plymouth and South Bend locations.

After graduating from Loyola University, Dr. Farhat earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School of Health and Science. He served an Internal Medicine Residency and a Fellowship in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Farhat is an active member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Medical Association.

Established in 1968, Michiana Hematology Oncology, P.C. is the region’s largest oncology group with fifteen staff oncologists and eight advanced practice nurses, providing medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecological oncology, and adult hematology services through six regional offices in North-Central Indiana and Southwestern Lower Michigan.
