Patients Get Easier Access to Physicians

South Bend, Indiana (June 9, 2008) — Cancer patients in Michiana now have greater access to healthcare services, including physician consultation, patient and family education, chemotherapy, infusion therapy and radiation oncology services.

Michiana Hematology Oncology, P.C. announced today the completed expansion of their Niles, Michigan Facility, located just east of the US 31 North Bypass on Niles-Buchanan Road. The newly expanded facility is now twice as large, with additional exam and treatment rooms to accommodate more patients and more state-of-the-art medical equipment.

“We’re making treatment easier and better for patients living in or near Niles,” said Kathy Schoenleber, Niles Nursing Coordinator. “Now more patients don’t need to travel to St. Joseph or South Bend to get the most advanced, research-based treatment services available.”

The Niles Facility operates Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is led by Dr. Chil Kang, who is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology.

“Patient care always comes first,” continued Schoenleber. “At Michiana Hematology Oncology, that includes making treatment as convenient as possible for patients.”

Founded in 1968, Michiana Hematology Oncology, P.C. is the region’s largest oncology group, providing medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecological oncology, and adult hematology services through seven regional locations in Michiana. Led by a team of experienced medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, radiation oncologists and advanced practice nurses, each location provides physician consultations, chemotherapy, radiation and infusion therapy services, a full-service laboratory, radiologic procedures, patient and family education, and enrollment in nationally recognized clinical trials.
